About This Place

Bayberry Seafood in Liverpool, NY, is a beloved local destination that masterfully combines the charm of a seafood restaurant with the freshness and variety of a seafood market. Nestled at 7608 Oswego Rd Unit 14, this establishment has earned a sterling reputation for its high-quality seafood offerings, friendly service, and genuine passion for what they do.

Walking into Bayberry Seafood, customers are greeted by an atmosphere that’s warm and unpretentious. Although primarily a takeout spot, its bustling environment buzzes with the energy of devoted regulars and first-timers alike, all eager to enjoy some of the freshest fish around. Owner Rich Leonardo’s hands-on approach ensures that every bite reflects dedication and time-honored expertise — something that long-time patron Collin Mulherin confirms, having frequented the spot for over two decades.

Bayberry shines brightest through its expertly prepared seafood staples. The breaded shrimp and fish sandwiches are frequently praised as "some of the best damn fish and breaded shrimp money can buy," according to Philip Grom. Imagine biting into perfectly crispy golden shrimp or flaky, generous cuts of fresh fish, all cooked to order and served hot, accompanied by classic sides like fries and onion rings. While the honey mustard sauce might divide opinion, the BBQ sauce reliably complements the dishes with a smoky tang.

What truly distinguishes Bayberry Seafood is more than just the food—it is the authentic customer care and community vibe. Staff members are known for their personable, friendly approach, often going the extra mile, such as offering a free roll to a child, as Collin experienced. Though the pace can be intense during busy times, some customers find the orchestrated bustle amusing and reflective of the passion behind the scenes.

Operating largely as a takeout business, patrons like Robin Frazier have expressed the wish for picnic tables or a small outdoor seating area, where the joyous experience of fresh seafood could be savored under the sun or stars. Nonetheless, the convenience and speed of service, especially on holidays like Christmas Eve, where Martha Maywalt noted the swift, warm reception, add unmistakable value to the Bayberry experience.

Bayberry Seafood is not merely a place to grab a quick bite—it’s a neighborhood institution that nurtures a genuine love for seafood with integrity and heart. Whether you're craving a generous fish sandwich, succulent breaded shrimp, or fresh market catches, Bayberry delivers with flavor and flair that keeps customers coming back for over 20 years. In a world where shortcuts are often the norm, Bayberry stands out by upholding quality and community in equal measure.

I’ve been going to Bayberry fish for 20+ years, the owners r very personable friendly Service wasgreat I went in on a wed night super slow to grab two pieces of fish and a small fry for my husband me and son , she offered me a roll free for my son , so I didn’t need to purchase a sand I was going to split my piece of fish with him.. my order came to $46 I was a bit shocked! I did ask her why so much she said the fish it’s by pound.. ok so I paid and left when we got home there was three pieces of fish ! two very very large pieces and one small!! No wonder it cost that much I honestly didn’t realize the amount of fish they gave as we were socializing carrying on great conversation . But my goodness a I ask for two pieces and it was for me & my husband . I just feel I should have been able to see the fish they were putting in for me that was a lot of money for fish and a small fry.. we would normally spend less than that in two fish dinnersI thought my husband was gonna die when I told him..I will be more observant next time! just be careful when ordering on a slow week night..

This is a takeout seafood establishment, this was my first time ordering. It was a bit of the Soup Nazi situation from Seinfeld happening. The woman orchestrating the line flow and orders coming in and out uses the same demeanor with a lot of shouting. I personally found it somewhat amusing but it was definitely intimidating some of the customers. Granted it was a late Friday afternoon and almost lent, steady stream of orders coming and going. The flow did move well I don’t think I waited much longer than ten minutes, in and out with order pretty quickly! I ordered two fish sandwiches with tartar sauce, Mac and cheese, I picked up a large Cole slaw from fridge, and an extra tartar sauce. The total came to thirty dollars and change, I thought prices were reasonable for the amount of food and cooked fresh to order. Everything was hot and delicious, Mac and cheese did taste identical to Stouffer’s though not sure that was homemade. Or just a very close replica. Great spot for fish sandwiches and filets! Will be back for more! No fish for you! If you don’t follow the line… lol

First time getting food there. The place runs like a top! The food was very good. Had fish sand special and chicken tenders with onion rings. The honey mustard sauce wasn't very good, too much mustard, no honey, but the BBQ sauce wasn't bad. Would of liked a place to sit and enjoy dinner other than in our vehicle, maybe a couple of picnic tables out front during the summer. Definitely would go back, the food was very good.

Went in on Christmas Eve and had very fast, friendly service from everyone at the shop. Our fish was huge, fresh and delicious! Sides were great too.

Every neighborhood would be a better place if they had an establishment run like this one! Great people, service and some of the best damn fish and breaded shrimp money can buy! I was also very happy to hear Rich Leonardo is running things as there are no shortcuts with his work. He's the best of the best at what he does! The end:)
